Don’t work

Don’t bother to download this app if you have a Macbook pro 15’ 2015 with El Capitan, it don’t work at all. Not tested with other configurations.

ONly works if you BUY an USB dongle….

…. So dont bother installing it, its just a trap to make you pay for something you re not suppose to pay for

Though this is a really great app and very useful - just like LightBlue for iOS - it has the problem that it does not work since 10.9.2 . And alas, Punch Through Design does not react on Bugreports.

Just gets stuck, asking to turn on Bluetooth, even though it’s already on. Edit: I think this might have to do with my hardware’s lack of support for BLE. Still, a better explanation should be provided by the program, rather then just offering to Quit.

Disconnect from ibeacon every 5 seconds

Yeah, it is true. Disconnect from ibeacon every 5 seconds with last MacBook Air 13.

This app has been great for testing my BLE development data. I purchased the dongle that they promote through the app as I have an older Macbook Air and it worked a charm. It also works in the current version of the XCode simulator so you dont need to run out and pick up a new iOS device immediately.

This is a solid, basic tool that was able to pinpoint a problem in a bluetooth low energy communication link. Big help in determining that a BLE112 development board was working, and that the problem was in my data format. The write services in hex or ascii are key for troubleshooting. Used on a 2011 MacBook Air with integrated BT 4.0 where the built-in bluetooth software had not been discovering my low energy BT devices. Thanks!

The app help me to understand how it works the communication process on GATT profiles. Tested with a Mac mini (late 2012-no dongles attached). I tested with a development kit from nordic semiconductor emulating a Heart Rate Monitor.

Every time I open the application, it asks me to turn on Bluetooth. Bluetooth is already on and working and is already connected to my keyboard and trackpad. I have tried disconnecting the other bluetooth devices and turning my bluetooth on and off, but nothing works. I cannot get past this dialog that asks me to turn on Bluetooth.

Can’t get past "Turn Bluetooth On"

App will not launch, hanging on dialog “Turn Bluetooth ON” even though Bluetooth is on.

Make Sure Your Mac Has Bluetooth 4.0

If the app continuously prompts you to turn bluetooth on, it is probably because your computer does not have Bluetooth 4.0.

Not all Bluetooth enabled Macs have BLE. Here is the list. Macbook Air 2011 or later Macbook Pro 2012 or later iMac Late 2012 or later Mac Mini 2011 or later MacPro Late 2013 or later Other models will not work even if they have Bluetooth.

Great debugging tool

This helped me figure out that I had a few bugs in my Raspberry Pi bluetooth setup! Great tool.

Hello, This application works also with third party BTLE dongle on a Mac - WITHOUT DRIVER UPDATE… I just purchased the IOGEAR Bluetooth 4.0 USB Micro Adapter (GBU521) that is just $12 on amazon, plugged it in… And it just works!!! Amazing!!!

I lost my Fitbit and was able to sync, so knew it was in or near the house. I searched without luck and then read a recommendation for this app. I installed on my iPhone and the signal started upstairs and increased as I moved downstairs, outside, and to the car. This app worked like a champ - found the lost Fitbit in the car!

Can’t run the app because it says I need to turn BlueTooth on, even though it is already on. I have tried turning Bluetooth off and back on again, but the app will not go any farther until I have turned Bluetooth on. <smh> I am on a MBP running Mavericks

Just what I was looking for! I have the IOS version, but this has more functionality. I received a BLE device from a vendor without documentation. Was able to poke around the device enough to figure out which characteristics did what without coding up an app.

I want to know!

If I can use the lightblue Bean to locate where its is or get the position with latitude and longitude.

There is an issue with the log window, when transmitting a BLE packet it will show “Wrote Value 0x(null)” in the log window…instead of the actual data that was transmitted. This needs to be fixed. Also, copy & paste doesn’t seem to work using keyboard shortcuts (CMD+C, CMD+V) - neither in the log window nor in the input field where TX data is entered. This should be an easy fix as well. Otherwise, quite useful app. Just needs more / consistent testing before release, otherwise these very basic issues would not have slipped through. How does this reflect on the company (“seller”)?
